Change of gaurd at IGL

Mr. Rajesh Vedvyas has taken over as Managing Director of Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (IGL), the sole supplier of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in the capital.

Mr. Vedvyas, an Electronics & Communication Engineering Graduate from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh brings to IGL a rich and diverse experience encompassing over 31 years. He was earlier serving as Zonal Head of GAIL (India) Ltd. at Hyderabad before joining the current assignment. Mr. Vedvyas has had a wide experience in Projects, Marketing and Operations during his 23 years of service in GAIL. Prior to joining GAIL in 1985, he had put over 8 years in Indian Oil Corporation.

Mr. Vedvyas took over the reins of IGL from Shri Om Narayan, who has been repatriated to GAIL (India) Ltd., from where he would be superannuating on 31st July 2008. IGL is a joint venture of GAIL (India) Ltd. and BPCL with Govt. of NCT of Delhi holding a 5 per cent equity stake.

The role of IGL in checking the vehicular pollution in Delhi is well acknowledged both at national as well as international forums. IGL has well laid out its city gas distribution infrastructure in Delhi which consists of over 1350 Kms of pipeline network. 163 CNG stations have been created and the network has connected nearly 1,25,000 households.
