During the year 2010-11, NLC’s Mine-II and TPS-II have performed well by achieving the MoU level targets. Mine-I’s results have to be introspected due to its related problems in the mining operations. Mine-IA has shown good results only in overburden removal. With monsoon affecting NLC’s mining operations, its monsoon production plan is being made ready to tackle the same.

He hoped that NLC’s mining Engineers would come up suitable plans to meet the targets and would not allow the generation to reduced on account of lignite supply. He pointed out that growth is essential not only for the profits but also for survival in the long run.

He mentioned that NLC is moving towards coal based power generation in addition to lignite based power generation.

As per GoI guidelines, NLC has to participate in tenders for the new power projects except hydro alongwith the private companies. He outlined that NLC has proposed to implement the following projects without going through the bidding process for which funds have to be raised.

* 1 X 250 MW Bithnok Lignite based Thermal Power project, in Rajasthan.
