KIOCL opens up for EXPLORATION OF IRON ORE
Opening of Project Office at D.Hirehal for Development of iron ore mines jointly by M/s The APMDC Limited & M/s KIOCL Limited and setting up of steel based plants by KIOCL Limited
A Memorandum of Understanding was entered on 22nd June 2013 among M/s The Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation Limited (APMDC), Govt. of AP undertaking, M/s KIOCL Limited, and M/s Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, both Govt. of India enterprises under Ministry of Steel in the august presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of AP, Sri. N Kiran Kumar Reddy Garu and Hon’ble Minister for Revenue Govt. of AP, Sri. N Raghuveera Reddy Garu, dignitaries and other officials.
This MoU is for exploration and exploitation of Iron Ore in Nemakal and Hiradahalu Villages in Ananthapur District by APMDC & KIOCL, setting up of Beneficiation & Pellitization Plants by KIOCL and supply of Pellets to RINL.
In order to make the exploration and action for exploitation of iron ore in the area, a Project Office has been set up at D. Hirehal and got inaugurated on 20.11.2013 by Hon’ble Minister for Revenue, Shri Raghuveera Reddy in the presence of Shri A Venkata Rami Reddy, MP, Ananthapuramu, Shri K Ramachandra Reddy, MLA, Rayadurg, Shri M Govinda Reddy, MLC, Shri Malay Chatterjee, CMD, KIOCL Ltd., Directors and senior officials of the Company.
A team of officials from APMDC and KIOCL have completed Preliminary Survey and Investigation (S&I) of proposed mining area. Government of AP would be shortly recommending the application of APMDC for Prospecting Licence (PL) to Ministry of Mines, New Delhi. After receipt of PL, APMDC and KIOCL will jointly carry out exploration activity to establish iron ore reserves in the area.
Hon’ble Minister Shri Raghuveera Reddy stated that KIOCL propose to set up Beneficiation and Pellitization plants of capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum each depending on the availability of Iron ore at mine site in the villages of Nemakal and Hiradahalu of Bommanahal and D. Hirehal Mandals respectively in Ananthapur District. KIOCL propose to invest about Rs. 1000 to 1500 Crores towards development of Mines, setting up of Beneficiation and Pellitization plants in this region. The Plant is likely to come up in 48 months’ time.
Shri Malay Chatterjee informed that the project will provide employment directly and indirectly to about 3500 persons besides promoting several ancillary industries in this area. KIOCL, APMDC and RINL being PSUs, will also implement several welfare schemes to develop surrounding areas for the benefit of local people under Corporate Social Responsibility, thereby benefitting the most backward district of the State of A.P giving boost to the local economy with the establishment of a major mining industry.

India International Trade Fair was organized at Pragathi Maidan, New Delhi for the period from 14.11.2013 to 27.11.2013. KIOCL has be been participating for the last few years. KIOCL stall was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Steel Minister Sri Beni Prasad Verma on 14.11.2013. Sri G Mohan Kumar, Steel Secretary and dignitaries were present on the occasion.
KIOCL extends a helping hand to neighboring state
KIOCL has taken up the project of supplying purified Drinking water Filters for use in Anganawadi Centers that are functioning at Ananthapuramu District. The District has 5126 AWCs where children of 1-6 years and pregnant women are taken care of. Ananthapuramu District of Andhra Pradesh is an under developed area lacking drinking water facility and also the water source is contaminated with fluoride & bacteria content affecting the health of the people. Cheque for an amount of Rs 65 lakhs was handed over by Sri Malay Chatterjee to the Sri S Satyanarayana, IAS, Jt Collector on 20.11.2013.
